About Our X-Ray Services
At Village Pediatrics, we offer our patients fast and convenient X-ray services through Methodist Center for Diagnostic Imaging at Legacy Medical Village. Whether it is for a diagnostic chest X-ray, or to check for a broken bone, the certified medical imaging technologists will provide your child with a safe snapshot of the area of concern. We have same-day appointments for children and teens during office hours for your convenience and to offer the proper diagnosis and treatment for your child. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommend parents write down each time a child is exposed to X-rays and to keep a log for future reference. Even though it is said that X-rays are safe for children in limited quantities, they should not be used unless medically necessary. Your pediatric care team will only request an X-ray for your child when it is absolutely necessary.
Reviews
During x-rays
Wearing a lead apron to protect your child from radiation exposure, an X-ray can be taken of your child in a matter of seconds. When it is deemed medically necessary to have an X-ray, we use this simple imaging technique as a diagnostic tool. X-rays can help your pediatrician make determinations of:
- Broken or fractured bones
- Pneumonia (X-ray of the lungs and chest)
- Scoliosis through spinal imaging
The X-ray technicians at Methodist CDI are highly trained and certified to perform the imaging services, and will provide your child with the least amount of exposure and only take the images needed.
Other Considerations
If the x-ray detects a condition or bone fracture, our pediatricians may refer your child to a specialist in order to treat the condition. For example, if your child has broken his or her arm, depending on the severity of the bone break, we may refer your child to an orthopedic doctor to manage your child's condition during healing and after recovery.
